Born and raised in New York City, Steve Nunez has become a rising talent
in the custom paint scene. Steve has a unique self-taught photo-realistic style
that has earned him many show-awards, trophies, plaques and magazine reviews.
He uses very little masking tape and prefers free-hand airbrushing-even the
smallest of details. He credits his free-hand technique to his early-years of
T-shirt airbrushing which allowed for no mistakes. He uses automotive grade
paint, french curves and Iwata airbrushes with industrial compressors.
Steve's theme-bikes usually take under 3-weeks to complete from start to
finish with many taking literally less than 10-12 days to turn-around! He
works 5 hour days to minimize artist "burn-out" and exposure to paint fumes.
Typical prices for custom painted bikes range from $5000-$8000 and are
determined by the complexity of the design and work effort. Steve also
paints cars, jet-skii's, boats, trailers- basically anything that can be painted-
is acceptable.
Steve's low-key, behind-the-scenes personality means he can be difficult to
find at non-local shows. The crew at BayCycles does a great job
showcasing the projects and answering questions in Steve's absence.
